Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sept 16 inaugurated a Charitable Blood Centre at the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Building in Gorakhpur, and highlighted the medical fraternity’s role in extending healthcare services beyond routine clinical practice.
Addressing the gathering, Adityanath said the IMA’s initiatives, including charitable blood banks and free outpatient departments, reflect the social responsibility of professional medical organisations.
The chief minister noted that while doctors provide services individually through government and private healthcare institutions, collective efforts by medical associations can add to community-level healthcare delivery.
He described the operation of free OPDs and blood banks by a professional body as an additional contribution to public welfare.
Separately, the Uttar Pradesh government has provided housing, education and other welfare support to a family in Basti district with four differently-abled children, following directions from the chief minister.
The family of Ramkishan Pandey was provided a house under the Kanshi Ram Awas Yojana, while wheelchairs were arranged for the children. His elder son Ankur was also brought under the disability pension scheme.
The district administration facilitated school admissions for the children and helped the family obtain an Antyodaya ration card, income certificate and Ujjwala gas connection.
Officials said the measures were taken to ensure the family could access eligible government welfare schemes covering housing, food security, education, mobility and financial assistance.
