Global private equity firm Advent International will invest Rs 3,150 crore in Yatharth Hospital and Trauma Care Services for a 24.9% stake, marking a major primary capital investment in India’s hospital sector.

The transaction will give Advent a significant minority position in Yatharth, while the promoter Tyagi family will continue as the hospital chain’s largest shareholder. The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions.

Founded in 2008, Yatharth Hospitals currently operates nine multi-speciality hospitals with around 2,800 beds. Its announced capacity stands at nearly 3,250 beds, with a growing presence across North India, including the NCR, Agra and Jhansi-Orchha.

The investment comes amid increasing private equity activity in India’s hospital industry. Rising healthcare demand, greater insurance coverage, improving hospital realisations and expansion of high-acuity specialties have strengthened investor interest in the sector.

According to an EY-Parthenon healthcare sector report, hospital operators have recorded strong revenue and EBITDA growth, with major players reporting year-on-year growth of more than 15%. Occupancy has remained broadly in the 60-75% range, while revenue per occupied bed has improved.

Advent has previously invested in India’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. Its healthcare portfolio includes Apollo 24/7, Cohance, Felix Pharma, Bharat Serums and Vaccines and Care Hospitals.

The investment will support Yatharth’s expansion plans as the company seeks to increase its hospital footprint and strengthen its capabilities across its existing markets.

Yatharth Whole-time Director Yatharth Tyagi said the partnership would bring additional capital, healthcare expertise and global insights to support the company’s next phase of growth.

Advent Managing Director Pankaj Patwari said the investment reflects the firm’s view that India’s healthcare sector is entering a period of structural growth driven by expanding access, improving quality and consolidation.
