Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, on Wednesday after undergoing angioplasty with the hospital authorities stating that he had a comfortable stay and was stable. Nadda underwent the cardiac procedure on August 17 following his admission to AIIMS after experiencing uneasiness. He was subsequently kept under observation in the Department of Cardiology.
According to AIIMS, Nadda was initially evaluated on the evening of August 13 with doctors conducting several tests including a coronary angiography. He was admitted to the Cardiology Department for further observation and monitoring. The angioplasty was carried out on August 17. The hospital subsequently said that Nadda remained stable and was being monitored by the cardiology team. Following his discharge, Nadda thanked the doctors, nurses and other hospital staff for the care provided to him during his stay at AIIMS. He also expressed gratitude to well-wishers who had wished him a speedy recovery.
The development comes as Nadda continues to oversee the Union government’s health and family welfare portfolio. His brief hospitalisation and subsequent recovery have drawn attention given his role as the country’s Union Health Minister. Nadda’s discharge two days after the angioplasty indicates that his immediate post-procedure recovery was satisfactory although any further medical advice or restrictions will be determined by his treating doctors.
The AIIMS update provides reassurance about the minister’s condition following the cardiac procedure with hospital authorities confirming that he was comfortable during his stay and thanking the medical team for his treatment.
