The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) has been officially recognized by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, as an Awarding Body under the Dual Category framework. The recognition is expected to significantly strengthen India’s medical technology manufacturing sector by promoting structured, industry-oriented skill development and certification.

The agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of senior officials from NCVET and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Representing the AMTZ ecosystem were Dilip Kumar Chekuri, Chief Executive Officer of AIC-AMTZ MediValley, and Naresh Nitturi, National Coordinator of the Indian Biomedical Skill Consortium.

Under this recognition, AMTZ is authorized to assess learners, award certifications, and grant qualifications through institutions and training centres that it owns or fully manages. This will enable the organization to independently conduct specialized training programmes that meet national quality standards while addressing the evolving requirements of the medical device manufacturing industry.

As part of the approval process, NCVET has also approved a new qualification titled Production Associate Manufacturing (Medical Device) at NSQF Level 4.5. The programme has been designed to equip candidates with practical expertise required in modern medical device production, including quality systems, manufacturing processes, and regulatory compliance.

India’s MedTech sector is expanding rapidly, driven by increasing domestic production, investments in healthcare infrastructure, and growing demand for advanced medical devices. Industry experts believe that a highly skilled workforce will be crucial in sustaining this growth and enhancing India’s position in global medical technology supply chains.

Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder CEO of AMTZ, described the recognition as a major milestone in building specialized talent for the healthcare technology sector. He said that creating a globally competitive medical device industry depends on developing professionals who are well-versed in modern manufacturing practices and industry standards.

Dilip Kumar Chekuri noted that the recognition would help design training programmes closely aligned with industry expectations, enabling learners to gain hands-on competencies that boost employability and support innovation-led manufacturing.

Naresh Nitturi emphasized the increasing need for structured skill development in the biomedical and medical technology sectors. According to him, nationally recognized certification pathways will help bridge existing skill gaps while opening up stronger career opportunities for aspiring professionals.

With this recognition, AMTZ further reinforces its position as a key contributor to India’s MedTech ecosystem by advancing workforce development, supporting industrial growth, and contributing to the country’s vision of becoming a global hub for medical device manufacturing and healthcare technology innovation.
