The Uttar Pradesh government has begun preparations to establish five integrated AYUSH hospitals and educational institutions in different regions of the state, Principal Secretary (AYUSH) Ranjan Kumar said.

The proposed facilities will be developed in the Gonda, Mirzapur, Meerut, Agra and Basti divisions as part of the state’s efforts to promote traditional systems of medicine and expand access to affordable healthcare and medical education. The institutions will combine AYUSH disciplines with modern health sciences, offering both academic programmes and healthcare services.

Director General, AYUSH, and Mission Director of the National AYUSH Mission, Chaitra V, said land has been identified for all five projects and preliminary work has already started. Four sites have been formally transferred to the AYUSH Department, while the transfer process for the Basti campus is nearing completion.

She added that detailed plans for the integrated hospitals and colleges are currently being prepared. Besides functioning as teaching institutions, the centres are expected to serve as research and innovation hubs.

According to officials, the campuses will encourage research in Ayurveda, yoga therapy, preventive healthcare and other traditional treatment systems. They will also feature modern laboratories, teaching hospitals, research units and training facilities.

The initiative is expected to improve access to AYUSH education and healthcare, particularly in underserved regions. Students from smaller towns and rural areas will be able to pursue professional AYUSH courses closer to their homes, reducing the need to relocate to major cities.
