An Odisha-born entrepreneur is using artificial intelligence to address long-standing inefficiencies in hospital systems through a healthcare technology startup, RxGPT, founded in Bhubaneswar.
Sailesh Pattnaik, a native of Odisha with nearly two decades of experience working on marketing technology and AI projects across the US, UK, Australia, APAC and the Middle East, has launched RxGPT, a SaaS-based healthcare platform aimed at automating hospital workflows and reducing administrative burden on medical staff.
According to the company, RxGPT leverages agentic AI, machine learning and natural language processing to automate patient check-ins, predict bed availability, streamline paperwork and enable early risk detection. The platform is designed to help doctors and healthcare workers spend more time on patient care rather than manual administrative tasks.
The idea for RxGPT emerged after Pattnaik decided to apply his global technology experience to everyday challenges in hospitals. Along with his wife and co-founder, Pragya Pattnaik, he established the company’s base in Bhubaneswar, positioning the city as a hub for healthcare AI innovation.
RxGPT also operates a dedicated research and development arm, Rlabs, which focuses on building proprietary healthcare-specific large language models (LLMs). The R&D initiative aims to support trusted clinical AI and collaborate with academic institutions by setting up university research labs.
The startup’s team includes professionals and researchers associated with institutions such as IIT Madras, IIIT Bengaluru, IIIT Guwahati, Stanford University, INSEAD, the University of Waterloo, Universidade do Minho and XIMB.
RxGPT is preparing for phased expansion across India and select international markets, including the US, GCC countries and the UK. The company says its long-term vision is to support healthcare systems globally with responsible and reliable AI-driven solutions.
