The Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) is now operational in all 36 States and Union Territories, covering 751 districts across the country. As of 30th June 2025, a total of 1,704 dialysis centres are functioning under the programme.

The Government of India has advised that haemodialysis centres should be set up in all district hospitals, and eventually expanded to Community Health Centres (CHCs) at the taluka level, based on local demand and availability. The responsibility for this implementation lies with the respective States and UTs, guided by the need for dialysis services and infrastructure gaps.

Under the National Health Mission (NHM), financial and technical support is provided to States and UTs for offering both haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis services. These services are planned through the annual Programme Implementation Plans (PIPs), and aim to ensure access to dialysis even in remote and tribal regions.

This information was shared by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on August 1.
