Resident doctors at Patna AIIMS launched a protest on Friday, August 01, alleging misconduct by Sheohar MLA Chetan Anand. The protest significantly disrupted healthcare services, with doctors suspending their duties in response to the incident.

According to the Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA), the MLA, along with his wife and armed security personnel, forcibly entered the hospital premises, assaulted doctors and security personnel, and allegedly threatened staff while brandishing a firearm. A hospital security guard was reportedly severely injured during the incident. The RDA has written to the hospital’s medical superintendent, demanding legal action against the MLA and improved security on campus.

In a strong response, the doctors announced the suspension of all elective procedures and a partial halt to emergency services from 9:00 am on Friday. They have stated that normal operations will only resume if Chetan Anand issues a formal apology.

According to Chetan Anand, he was denied entry along with his security detail, prompting his wife to step in. He alleged that staff members then misbehaved with her and even physically assaulted her, leading to injuries on her wrist and back. He also claimed that he was briefly held hostage by hospital personnel. Following the altercation, he filed a police complaint regarding the incident.
